Spectra navigation

Is so hot! I love colorful things. This is a very colorful thing, and so I love it very much. Regardless of how useful it is, I am drawn to use it.

That is all at this time. Back to this news web site.

Amazon points to recent orders

Thank you! It’s about time, if you ask me, that Amazon did this. For me it’s the single most important and frequently used link on this page.

For a long while, the “View recent orders” link was just as visually important as the rest. I wonder how much research went in to changing this single link to a button. Probably a lot. It would be interesting to see the numbers/report supporting this design decision. Kudos, Amazon!

UX Booth back to top links

UX Booth does a great job at providing useful back to top links. Most often, these links are hard to spot. Which in turn makes me less likely to use them, even if they are available.

But the round tab sticking out the side of the content on this page begs to be clicked. I almost want to go the top of the page now. It’s subtle, so not to distract, but it’s not invisible, so it’s easier to spot, and therefore to use.

Now THAT’S pagination!

Deziner Folio puts the page in pagination. I love it, this draws on the actual metaphor of pages! Freakin’ genius. I didn’t quite get it at first, but now I’m perfectly comfortable with it.

I’ve grown accustomed to the typical pagination controls – just a row of linked numbers. This is more of a “tabbed” approach, but it’s really brilliant. Why haven’t I seen this done before? The world may never know.
